35th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners, Warsaw, 23-26 September 2013

The International Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners Conference was established in 1979 and convenes once a year. In recent years, the Conference has grown into a one week event, comprising an Open Session accessible to all privacy professionals, a Closed Session only accessible to data protection and privacy authorities, as well as several side meetings organised by international and non-governmental organisations. During the Conference, all issues related to data protection and privacy can be discussed. The 35th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners will be hosted by the Polish Inspector General for Personal Data Protection. Freedom of Information - the next decade

In the context of the 8th International Conference of Freedom of Information Commissioners (ICIC), taking place from18 to 20 September 2013 in Berlin, the European Academy for Freedom of Information and Data Protection (EAID) is very pleased to invite you to an event on 20 September 2013.

Almost exactly 10 years ago the EAID initiated the establishment of the International Conference of Freedom of Information Commissioners. The ICIC, returning this year to the place of its foundation, has evolved into a global forum for Freedom of Information Commissioners from all over the world to exchange information, discuss with academic experts, practitioners and representatives of civil society and to develop new ideas for enhancing transparency.

This year's EAID event will focus on global developments and challenges arising in the area of freedom of information in the medium term. The discussion will cover legal aspects as well as the question how different approaches to a culture of transparency in the public and private sectors can be integrated and promoted.
